The core part of a quantum computer is the quantum bit that participates in the operation. The main ways to realize quantum bits are photons, ion traps, superconducting rings, etc. Whether it is a superconducting ring or an ion trap, the stable operation of these devices requires extremely harsh external conditions, namely ultra-high vacuum and extremely low temperature environment.

An ion trap is a device that uses electric or magnetic fields to capture and imprison ions within a certain range. The ion trapping is realized in a vacuum, and the ions do not contact the surface of the device. The most commonly used ion traps are "Paul trap" and "Penning trap". Ion traps can be used to realize quantum computers. Quantum computers use the quantum mechanical state of particles, such as the spin direction of atoms, to represent 0 and 1, which are called "quantum bits". Ion traps use electrodes to generate electric fields to trap ultra-cold ions in the electric field to realize quantum bits.
