As the second-ranked element in the periodic table, helium is a non-renewable resource and is irreplaceable in the fields of cryogenics and cutting-edge scientific research. As an inert rare gas, the content of helium in the air is extremely low, and the difficulty and energy consumption of conventional air separation operations are very high. The helium currently circulating in the market is extracted from natural gas. The helium content in my country's natural gas is very low, and the extraction cost is very high. Domestic helium is almost entirely dependent on imports, and the supply market is not stable. At present, its price continues to rise, and it can only meet the supply of bulk and agreement purchases. In addition, considering the transportation loss of cryogenic liquid helium, there is no liquid helium available in some areas. With the continuation and escalation of trade conflicts, it is particularly urgent to study the economical use of helium, strengthen recycling and even explore alternative technologies for liquid helium.

Fermion Instruments independently develops 1K refrigerator without liquid helium

Using a closed-cycle refrigerator to achieve liquid helium temperature has become an ideal choice. For example, GM refrigerators and pulse tube refrigerators have been widely used in the field of low-temperature refrigeration. However, compared with liquid helium refrigeration, this type of refrigerator generally has a limitation: the lowest temperature at the secondary cold head is generally 2.3K. If you need to get a lower temperature, you need to use the more expensive He3 and use dilution refrigeration. However, He3 on Earth is extremely rare. It is currently predicted that the total He3 reserves on Earth are about 500kg, and the price of one standard liter of He3 gas on the market is about 20,000 yuan. This greatly increases the cost of obtaining the 1K temperature zone and limits the development of ultra-low temperature experiments.

The features of this product are as follows:

1) It does not consume scarce and expensive liquid helium, and has low operating costs;

2) It is compatible with ultra-high vacuum environments;

3) It is compact and has a DN100CF mounting flange, which is convenient for system integration;

4) It cools down quickly, and it only takes 8 hours to cool down from room temperature to the lowest temperature;

5) The lowest temperature of the JT refrigerator can reach 1.1K;

6) The cooling capacity of the JT refrigerator is 20mW@1.5K;

In the future, we will develop cryostats and cryogenic sample holders for various application scenarios based on this refrigerator to meet different experimental needs.
